Beautiful industrial clock made in England by well known clock makers Magneta Electric. c.1940

Likely used on a railway platform, this clock has been left in original condition, with age related patina to the 18" dial and black painted brass casing. The hands run on the original slave movement which now has benefit of a modern battery operated impulse driver giving that synonomous mechanical 'clunk' every 30 seconds.

About the maker
The Magneta Time Co. were based at the Goblin Works factory in Leatherhead, Surrey. As a company there were instrumental in the development of public clocks with many still found at railway stations today. They manufactured synchronous, impulse, turret and even advertising clocks where commissioned by architects. Outside of clocks they also produced fire alarms, telephones, loudspeakers and many other electrical items.
